BOYCO Manufacturing – Meet Paul!
June 2023
At our purpose built factory in Stockport, Greater Manchester, we’re proud to manufacture and fabricate a huge range of products.
At the core of our manufacturing facility are our wonderful team who work so hard to ensure that every product is of the highest quality.
Get to know Paul, our Product Technician! Part of the manufacturing team, we asked him a few questions about the world of BOYCO, and here’s what he had to say…
How long have you worked at BOYCO?
32 years
What does your day-to-day look like?
My day-to-day can vary as I’m usually working on different types of products. However, my main role is to assemble cloakroom units and other items, adding finishing touches and making sure that the finished products are ready to go out to site. Part of this is always keeping track of orders coming to me, to ensure that items are completed, and with our customers ahead of time. Throughout my day assembling a product, quality control and attention to detail are super important, so some of my time is spent on this, too.
What do you like most about working in manufacturing?
I enjoy manufacturing because it’s a very hands-on job, a desk job wouldn’t be for me! I get to see a product from start to finish, and I like knowing that something I have put together will benefit people. Whether it’s a cloakroom unit for a school, or storage for a hospital, it’s nice to know that my work will make a difference to someone’s day.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
We have a really good team who I look forward to working with every day. Most of us have worked together for many years since I first started back in 1991! Also, I’m lucky at BOYCO that I get to work with the best materials. It’s great to know that what I’m assembling is top quality. I enjoy looking at where our finished goods will end up too, we work on some fantastic projects with varying organisations, and this always fills me with pride.
What is your favourite product to manufacture and why?
Definitely Cloakroom Furniture. I usually have an extensive range of bespoke products to assemble with this type of product, which can sometimes be a bit challenging – but I love it. I work on lots of different colour combinations too, so no two days are the same.
What is the most memorable product that you have seen / been part of manufacturing?
It’s hard to choose, but I’d have to say the football club projects that we’ve worked on. These projects usually feature integrated changing room furniture for the dressing rooms, they have a modern and fresh look.
